The ASUS M5A99FX PRO is built under the famous socket AM3+ platform that accommodates both the Bulldozer and Piledriver processors. The AMD 990FX is the most powerful chipset in its series that runs the NorthBridge and it combines with the SB950 on the SouthBridge.

The Looks And Connectivity
The board looks awesome in black with blue trim at the heatsinks and slots. An oversize heatsink can be seen at the regulator circuit and chipset as well. The CPU socket provides more space in case you decide to upgrade the CPU cooler.
The four DIMM slots are nicely color coded in black and blue combination to properly identify its correct pairing. The ATX power connectors are nicely placed for easy access without the wire mess.
Turning on the front side of the board you can see the six in-line SATA ports mounted on the edge of board. The four in white color are SATA 6GB/s provided by the SB950 SouthBridge while the two in blue is powered by the ASMedia controller. The 7th port is located beside the DIMM slots in upright position while the 8th is dedicated for the eSATA in red at the back I/O panel.
Moving on the expansion slots, you can notice the four PCIe, the two PCIe in blue runs at x16 bandwidth while the other two in black runs at x4. It supports both SLI and Crossfire that gives you full flexibility. In between these ports are the PCIe 1x and legacy PCI slots.
Finally at the back I/O panel you can see the PS/2 keyboard in purple, PS/2 mouse in green, eSATA in red, RJ45 LAN port, 8x USB 2.0 in black/blue, 2x USB 3.0 in red, optical S/PDIF out and 6x audio jacks.

To achieve the best possible result it uses the following components such as the Corsair Hydro Series H100 CPU cooler, two 8GB DDR3-2400 memory module, NVIDIA GTX 770 graphics card, 240GB SSD and 750W power supply.
Overclocking the ASUS M5A99FX PRO is simple, traditionally you can disable all power saving features, lock the frequency then adjust the speed. Using the Al Suite II it will make everything faster. Simply do some adjustment at the BIOS with the voltage set to 1.43v then tweak the Al Suite II utilities and you can easily arrive at 4.7GHz(200 x 23.5).
The system fully runs in its full stability without any problems. Working at this speed shows a drastic increase in its performance from office works to games.
The ASUS M5A99FX PRO is no doubt a great performing board. It overclocks well at certain heights and feature wise it leaves you more room for expansion. Some people prefer it conventional Asus color in blue and black while other dislikes it.
